Construction Backlog Increase
In January the construction backlog increased to 8.4 months, providing a steady workflow in the contractor’s pipeline. The sales and profit-margin expectations are predicted to grow, while staffing levels remain stagnant. These findings suggest a slow start to projects may cost contractors job opportunities. With multiple projects already in the queue, along with the combination of increased sales and a decrease in staffing, delays will occur. This becomes problematic if the volume of work doesn’t have enough manpower to ensure client satisfaction. Contractors may want to consider hiring third-party firms and purchasing technology to help combat this trend.
